Located in beautiful La Jolla, one San Diego's most scenic places to see, the Birch Aquarium at Scripps is a located on the hills above the Pacific Ocean overlooking the Scripps oceanic facilities and its private pier.
The Birch Aquarium includes beautiful grounds where you can sit next to an outdoor fountain and enjoy lunch, or pay admission to enter the world of colorful, Pacific marine life. The aquarium includes hands-on
exhibits and over 60 habitats to see. Changing exhibitions include exploration of Coral, Shark Reefs and Fish, Living Tide Pools, Whales and Seahorses, to name a few.
The intimate aquarium ideal for children and curious adults just wanting to
explore some of the great science that
goes on at world famous Scripps will
find out that Birch isn't very big, but
its exhibits are compelling and there's
plenty to discover and learn about,
regardless of how young or old you are.
One of our favorite exhibits is "There's
Something About Seahorses."
Ranging from the impressive sea
dragons to the tiniest seahorses less
than an inch in length, who isn't
spellbound watching these little fish
creatures looks as if they are horses
that trot in the water? Nature is truly
amazing in its adaptations!
