Coit Tower & Filbert Street in San Francisco, CA

Coit Tower in San Francisco is known for its unique architecture. It can be seen from most places in the city, as it sits on a hill top at Telegraph Hill in Pioneer Park, one of San Francisco's expensive neighborhoods (most neighborhoods in San Francisco are pricey.)

When you visit, Coit Tower is included in many guided bus tours of the city. You can get out of the bus and gaze to many expansive vistas from the vantage point where Coit Tower is located. View from the top of Coit Tower include the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Pier 39, Angel Island, Treasure Island, Russian Hill, the Financial District, Lombard Street, and Nob Hill. You can virtually see the entire city.

Specifications: Coit Tower stands 210-feet tall. Built in 1933

Lillie Hitchcock Coit sought to beautify the city of San Francisco and bequeathed a portion of her estate to the City of San Francisco to add beauty a city "which I have always loved". Coit Tower is a monument to the firefighters of San Francisco.

Getting there: Steps lead to the top of Telegraph Hill, whose boulevard connects with popular Lombard Street tourist attraction.
