DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE START SMART PROGRAM?
· Teen drivers are found at fault in 66% of
ALL FATAL collisions that they are involved
in, although they only represent 4% of the
state's licensed drivers.
· The leading cause of DEATH for Americans
15 - 20 years old is motor vehicle
collisions.
· 65 % of teen passenger Deaths occur when
another teenager is driving.
WHAT IS THE START SMART PROGRAM?
The California Highway Patrol's Start Smart
program is a FREE driver safety education
class which targets new and future licensed
teenage drivers between the ages of 15 - 20
and their parents/guardians. CHP officers
will discuss traffic collision avoidance
techniques, collision causing factors,
driver/parent responsibilities, and seatbelt
usage.
Our goal is to help young drivers and their
parents/guardians understand the
responsibilities associated with driving a
motor vehicle, show how a poor choice behind
the wheel can change the lives of everyone
involved, and to reduce the number of
teen-related injuries and deaths due to
collisions.
Please call and RSVP to reserve your seat.

It's not time again for our annual silly YOT
CHRISTMAS PARADE (also called the NO PARADE)
around town, showing off our trucks, cars,
YOTS and bicycles all dressed up for
Christmas!!
We wont gather at the parking lot at the
South end of Sunset, line up in back of the
fire engine, at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, December
17 --- and wont start at 6:00 p.m. for the
jaunt around town.
Bring some candy to toss to the kids (and
parents) lined up on the green strip to wish
us all Merry Christmas.”—and if you're
partying, not parading that night, be sure
to come out to see the grand Sunset Beach
YOT PARADE pass by! This is a fun tradition.
