Long Beach, California--72nd Street Beach is located on Long Beach, California's peninsula in a most residential area with one side facing the Pacific Ocean and a block away the houses on the other side of the street facing Alamitos Bay.
Long Beach Lifeguards patrol the public beach on this peninsula at 72nd Street next to a yacht club. The popularity of the beach comes from a rock jetty where people like to fish, wander on the rocks, and watch the boats come in and out of the Alamitos Landing harbor to the Pacific Ocean. Long Beach's Aqualink boat is one such high-speed Catamaran that uses this bay to dock and pick up people on one of its stops between Queen Mary ship, Aquarium of the Pacific / Shoreline Village, and the northern section of Long Beach where there is free parking near the Orange County borderline.
72nd Street Beach features coin meter parking and some street parking a few blocks away. It has restroom facilities, sand beaches that stretch all the way to downtown Long Beach, and of course as we mentioned, the rock jetty where people like to fish.
The beach is a great place to park your car at lunch and watch the serene activities such as the boats passing in and out of the busy harbor that connects
