This is a very scenic beach that descends down a road from hilltop
residential neighborhoods to the rocky beach in a a cove. Beautiful
royal palms grace the picnic and restroom area, giving the beach its
name. Fishing is quite popular as is surfing. Anglers young and old
stand on the rocky shore and outcroppings to catch fish. Watch your step
and keep an eye on your kids. The beach, itself, is minimal in
this location. For sand beaches you'd be better off heading south to
Cabrillo State Beach or north to Torrance or Redondo Beaches.
Rugged, rocky shoreline popular with shell collectors and surf casters.
directions: Take Harbor Freeway South (110) exit Gaffey Street south, turn right
onto Paseo del Mar.
