Newport Beach Beaches: Newport Beach 23rd Street Beach is just west & north of Newport Pier. When you look for a very popular local hangout, Mutt Lynch's, known for its cold brews, comfort foods and views, you'll be precisely at 23rd Street. It is a small street with a few meter parking spots at the beach near the busy meet-up point of the two major street coming into and out of Newport peninsula--Newport and Balboa Boulevards.
The beach directly off of 23rd Street is close to a series of jetties, making beach access slightly mellow compared to direct, west facing beaches without jetty protection. Surfers like to head out from the are between these jetties for some of Newport's best surfing.
At 23rd Street Beach it is normally the hub of activity with lots of beach rentals in close vicinity. Roller blading and bicycling are quite popular on the beach strand, a paved path with two lanes for non-motorized traffic. Joggers and walkers also share the path and signs indicate that you are suppose to share.
If you sunbathe or access the beach at 23rd Street beach, you're just a short distance from the scenic Newport Pier where you can fish for free, wander, eat, or relax.
