Newport Beach Beaches: The photo of girls riding bicycles and wearing swimsuits showcases something than no other Orange County beach has-- homes and beach rental cottages overlooking a strand next to a beach. Huntington Beach has a strand, but virtually no homes on it. Sunset Beach has vacation rentals but no strand overlooking it. Seal Beach has a small strand and a few houses with some rentals. But the strand there might better call itself a paved sidewalk.

Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente beaches are mostly set on cliffs so there's no strand to be had, for all practical purposes.

Newport Beach housing was built on the beach before the California Coastal Commission was voted by citizens to protect beaches and discourage new construction. It is similar to Los Angeles (South Bay) cities such as Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach.
