8 out of 15 counties with Pacific Coast beaches in California are located on the Northern Coast.
Northern California beach counties are really very special. While not as population, not as hot, and not as visited as their counterparts to the south, these coveted beaches provide treasures. Glass Beach, for instance, includes beautiful pieces of glass worn and smoothed through time like beautiful rocks.
Whale watching is spectacular in this portion of the coast, and the hiking, bays and inlets all provide exceptional sports and outdoor opportunities. Some prefer Northern California beaches for the weather which can include rain, fog, and romantic seascapes accompanied by cool breezes, often calling for jackets to be worn.
