Laguna Beach is unique among Orange County beaches in that it contains nearly 30 whopping beaches in a seven mile stretch! The beaches are typically at the base of a hillside or cliff with houses, hotels and and small escarpments. Most often there will be a set of stairs and sometimes a ramp leading to the beach. Thus, not all beaches are ADA accessible. Many of them actually lose their beach when high tide eliminates the sand, often regularly or seasonally.
In Laguna Beach another interesting situation that makes beaches a lot different from Dana Point, Newport or Huntington Beach to the north is the parking situation. Laguna Beach lacks a dedicated parking structure for beach access and beach attendance. Thus, when you go to Laguna Beach you may find yourself weaving through residential neighborhoods or next to commercial businesses where you should pay attention to parking meters and restrictions.
The payback for being persistent in obtaining parking and attending Laguna Beaches 20+ beaches scattered off Pacific Coast Highway is the intimacy of the beaches, the coves for scuba diving, the spectacular vistas and for surfers, some nice waves at certain locations.
As we stated, hotels are located overlooking Laguna beaches and the perk for
staying at a hotel is your built in parking situation allowing you to access the
beach as part of a hotel stay. Laguna Beach, an artist's community, has scenic,
gorgeous beaches. Do check them out!
