Pismo Beach - Beach Access to the State Beach and coastal beach trails and stairs

Sunset Palisade's Ocean Viewpoints and Bluff Trail. Outstanding viewpoints at the end of Encanto, Topaz, and Florin streets and the Bluff's trail. Walking trail from the end of Bluffs Drive (northerly City limits) to Searidge Ct. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit. Take El Portal to Indio and turn left; down to the end of Indio, right turn to the Bluffs Trail on Bluff Dr. May continue onto outside of City (dirt trail.)

Shell Beach Road and Encanto courts. Two basketball/tennis courts on Shell Beach Rd. at Encanto. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, turn right on Shell Beach Rd., 1/2 mile on right.

Palisades Park. 6-acre park, basketball court, playground, horseshoes, picnic tables, benches, BBQ, and grassy area. Tennis courts across Shell Beach Rd. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, turn right on Shell Beach Rd. to Hermosa, turn left.

Beachcomber Drive Beach Access Stairs. Concrete, steel and wood stairs from bluff to beach at the end of Beachcomber Dr. Tide pool access. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, right on Shell Beach Rd, travel to Beachcomber Dr. north or south and turn left.

South Palisades Parks. Spectacular scenic ocean-viewing one-mile linear coastal park with benches, picnic tables and a grassy area. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, right turn on Shell Beach Rd. Travel to Searidge, Beachcomber (North or South), Silver Shoals Dr. or Ebb Tide.

Ebb Tide Park. Secluded ocean bluff fronting grassy area park located at the end of Ebb Tide off Shell Beach Road. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, right turn on Shell Beach Rd. Left at Ebb Tide.

Cliffs, Dolphin Bay, Spyglass Hotels, Coastal Bluff Trails and Beach Access. 2757, 2727 and 2705 Shell Beach Rd. 1/2 mile ocean bluff linear trail behind hotels, beach access at the Cliffs' hotel. Highway 101 S and 101N Shellbeach Rd. exits, right on Shell Beach Rd. Public parking available at all hotels.

Spyglass Park. 4-1/2 acre park with playground, grassy area, restroom, picnic tables, benches, BBQ areas, and bike parking. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, go straight across Shell Beach Rd. onto Spyglass. Follow Spyglass for a scenic view of the ocean and access on a challenging trail to a 1-1/2 mile sandy beach and tide pools.

Memory Park/Point Vista. 1/2-acre bluff park, picnic tables, BBQ and benches, beautiful ocean viewing. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, take left on Shell Beach Rd., turn right onto Seacliff.

Shell Beach school Play Equipment. 4-acre school ball fields and playground overlooking the ocean, play equipment available for use after school hours. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, turn left at Shell Beach Rd., drive to Terrace, turn right.

Eldwayen Ocean Park. Beach access at Vista Del Mar and Morro. A 1-1/2 mile ocean front park with grassy picnic areas and two beach stairways to sandy beach and tide pools. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, turn left on Shell Beach Road and turn toward the ocean on any street from Vista Del Mar to Morro.

Pier Ave Stairs. Beach access stairway to large tide pool area. Highway 101 S and 101N Spyglass exit, left on Shell Beach Rd. to Pier. Turn toward the ocean.

Margo Dodd Park, Gazebo and Beach Stairway. Ocean front bluff park: breathtaking ocean viewing, gazebo, grassy area and bicycle parking. Excellent photography spot! Highway 101 N Price St. exit, turn under freeway to Price St., take a right, turn left at Seaview. Highway 101 S Spyglass exit, turn left on Shell Beach Road to Seaview, turn right. Park is located at the end of Seaview.

Dinosaur Caves Park. 11-acre ocean front park is for walkers, joggers, photographers, dog lovers, and fishing enthusiasts. Trails, amphitheater, restroom, open grassy areas, play area, scenic ocean overlooks, benches and tables. Highway 101 N Price St. exit, turn under freeway to Price St., take a right, turn left at Cliff. Highway 101 S Spyglass exit, turn left on Shell Beach Road to Cliff, turn right. At corner of Cliff and Shell Beach Rd.

Shelter Cove Hotel Open Space and Beach Access. 2651 Price St. 3-1/2 acre open space. Gazebo outlook, parking, bluff walkway and beach access stairs. Highway 101 N Price St. exit, turn under freeway to Price St., take a right; Highway 101 S Spyglass exit, turn left on Shell Beach Road.

Shore Cliff Hotel open space. 2555 Price St. Ocean viewing walkway. Highway 101 N Price St. exit, turn under freeway to Price St., take a right; Highway 101 S Spyglass exit, turn left on Shell Beach Rd. 19 Cottage Inn, Pismo Lighthouse Suites, Seacrest Hotel bluff trail and beach access. 2241, 2351, 2411 Price. Bluff trail/beach access, Seacrest Hotel. Handicapped lift available. Highway 101 N Price St. exit, turn under freeway to Price St., take a right; Highway 101 S Spyglass exit, turn left on Shell Beach Road.

Wilmar Stairs. Beach access stairway. Highway 101 S Price St. exit, turn right on Price to Wilmar, turn left; Highway 101 S Price St., turn left down Price to Wilmar, turn right.

Boosinger Park. Play equipment, drinking fountain, picnic tables, BBQs and benches. Spectacular city and ocean views. Highway 101 S Price St. exit, turn left down Price St. to Wadsworth, turn left up the hill to the park. Highway 101 N, Wadsworth exit, turn right staying on Wadsworth to the Park.

Wadsworth and Bello C o u r t s . Two tennis and basketball courts. Highway 101 S Price St. exit, turn left down Price St. to Wadsworth, turn left. Highway 101 N, Wadsworth exit, turn right.

Wadsworth Ave Stairs. Beach access. Highway 101 S Price St. exit, turn left down Price to Wadsworth, turn right. Highway 101 N, Wadsworth exit, turn left.

Main Street Stairs. Beach access. Highway 101 S Price St. exit, turn down Dolliver to Main, turn right. Highway 101 N, Wadsworth exit, left. Left on Price St., right on Main.

Pismo State Beach, Pier, beach volleyball, the Promenade and Pismo Creek Trail. Volleyball courts at the end of Wadsworth near the Pier. Promenade is adjacent to the beach from the Pier to Addie. Public restrooms, sand showers, play equipment, benches, and drink fountains. Enjoy surfing, fishing and swimming. Parking lots adjacent to the Pier (end of Pomeroy) and the end of Addie. Main St. stairs lead to beach and volleyball courts. Pismo Creek bird life viewing from Addie on the Pismo Creek trail terminating into the ocean. Highway 101 S and Highway 101 N Downtown exits, follow signs to arrive at the beach/creek/parking lots.

Mary Herrington Park. One acre park along Pismo Creek, with a restroom, grassy recreation area, picnic tables/ benches, BBQs, drinking fountain and bike parking. Highway 101 S Hinds Ave. exit right to Dolliver, turn left. Highway 101 N Wadsworth exit, turn left to Dolliver, turn left. Park is right before the bridge over Pismo Creek to the right.

Ira Lease Park. One acre park adjacent to Dolliver street with entry to Pismo Creek Trail, grassy area, picnic tables and benches, BBQs, drinking fountain, restroom and play equipment, and bike parking. Highway 101 S Hinds Ave. exit, take right to Dolliver, turn left. Highway 101 N Wadsworth exit, turn left to Dolliver, turn left.

Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove/ Promenade 3 to Grover Beach. On Dolliver Street/Highway 1 the area provides improved trail access to Pismo State Beach and butterfly grove. Seating areas available. Thousands of butterflies can be seen from November through early March. Highway 101 S Hinds Ave. exit to Dolliver, turn left. Pismo Lakes and Overlook. Three lakes and a multitude of plant and bird life. Viewing access from the City owned adjacent one acre overlook. Highway 101 S and 101 N access from 4th Street, located on Fourth Street just west of the 4th street and Highway 101 interchange. Chumash Park. 38-acre park, children's play equipment, walking trail, picnic area and hard court for basketball play. Highway 101 N at 4th St., right, left onto James Way, right on Ventana, the park is to the left. Highway 101 S 4th St. exit, right onto Five Cities Drive, right again on 4th Street, left on James Way and right on Ventana.

Highland Park. 7-acre park with picnic areas and play equipment. Highway 101 N James Way exit and Highway 101 S 4th St. exit, take James Way to Highland to the park.

Pismo Beach Sports Complex. 5.5-acre site, three ball fields and picnic areas. Highway 101 S Hinds Ave. exit and Highway 101 N Wadsworth exit over Price St. to Dolliver. Take South Dolliver St. to Frady Lane, turn east and go under the Highway to reach the ball fields.

Price Historic Park. Four acre park in the country” with hiking trails, Class 1 bike trails and open space. The gated Price Anniversary and Meherin houses can be toured by appointment. Contact 805-773- 4658 M-F 8 AM - 5 PM for a docent contact. From Highway 101 S: 4th St. exit, south to Highland, take a left on Rancho Pismo to the Park. From 101 N: Five Cities Dr. exit, turn left on Five Cities Dr., left on 4th St., left onto James Way, right on Highland, left on Rancho Pismo. For bicycle/pedestrian access follow directions to the ball fields and continue east along Frady Lane.
