San Diego County Beaches

San Diego County beaches are the southernmost beaches on the West Coast of the United States. Though the physical line is drawn in the sand where California's Borderfield State Beach meets a gate that separates Tijuana, Mexico from San Diego, California USA, the ocean is the same, the tides roll in and to many the separation is somewhat artificial. Indeed!

In 2012 Coronado Beach was selected as the Best Beach in the U.S. by "Dr. Beach".

What IS different is San Diego's attempt to provide swim-able, fit-for-humans water to serve the state's warmest beach destination, often plagued by water quality issues that this border region faces. Outdated infrastructure or lack of adequate treatment facilities for years have made the southernmost beaches less fit for people. San Diego's Port Authority had injected millions of dollars into sewage treatment facilities to help make San Diego beaches better, and the results have been noticeable.
