Sunset Beach Kite Surfer at Sunset
With a name like Sunset Beach, this California town better have beaches and sunsets. It does, and it has more-- Wind & kitesurfing.
Sunset Beach in North Orange County actually has a designated area for kite and windsurfers to launch from the beach. Beach-goers are advised, according to the signage, to yield to this type of surfers. It's challenging for them to launch without ample space to navigate the kites. It's unlikely that you'll be injured if you are a sunbather but you will make it difficult for the sports enthusiasts to get out and get surfing, then return to the beach.
Location: The launch area on the sand is located on Pacific Ave. near
the Water Tower House. The area borders Sunset Beach / Surfside. From
Pacific Coast Highway turn west on Anderson toward the beach. Parking is
located along the greenbelt.
