Canoga Park is known in recent years for its high tech industries and technologies that brought jobs, homes and prosperous living to this valley location approx. 25 miles northwest of downtown L.A. Like so much of that aerospace boom of the 60s - early 21st century, the good did not come without the bad. Pollution, toxic chemicals and other ills now have come back to haunt this once free-wheeling place where industry was invited to bring their tax dollars and create jobs.
Clean up and mitigation of the pollution has been underway to return many of the business parks and surrounding residential healthy like they once were.
Highlights to this community of around 45,000-50,000 people include a Los Angeles public library, numerous public L.A. schools, a park recreation building known as Lanark Recreation Center, the hub of many community events, and the beautiful Platt building sometimes known as The Victorian.
