Copperopolis, Calif.--One of the last bastions of true gold country character, this Calaveras County city is slowly moving toward the future with a new community center--Saddle Creek Resort's Townsquare concept.
Copperopolis California is located in the gently sloped foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range of Central California. Named for the copper that was discovered during the 1840's-50's, the gold rush town has transformed into a modern day luxury resort that embraces its reminders and of the past. Copperopolis in Calaveras County (home to the Jumping Frog Jubilee,) offers scenic beauty with hills that turn lush green in the spring, then fade to pale, wheat shades in the autumn as days become cool.
Fall is an ideal time to visit this region, and Copperopolis offers the perfect home base for exploration. In addition to the leaves turning brilliant colors during the fall foliage season, the number of days of rain is fairly low and the daytime temperatures are pleasant and mostly in the 70's, and 30's at night.
Copperopolis Town Square, is the newest centerpiece of this community, offering classic car shows, summer concerts and holiday tree lightings with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus officiating and taking lists of wishes from the good little girls and boys.
Murphys in Calaveras County is less than an hour by car from Copperopolis and is known for its history, downtown shops and restaurants, and Ironstone Vineyards where special events are held.
When you need an escape, be sure to check out Copperopolis, the graceful place in the hills.
