Oroville, California Enjoys Nature

To say that Oroville, California loves history would be an understatement. It has several museums surrounding the history of the region and during a visit, give yourself time to see at least one. Among them are the Bolt's Antique Tool Museum, C. F. Lott Home, Chinese Temple & Museum Complex and Pioneer History Museum.

Oroville is located in what we like to call "god's country" in the Shasta Cascade region of California not far from the northern California border with Oregon. Located approx. 65 miles north of Sacramento, and several hours by car from San Francisco Bay Area and Reno (between 2.5 - 3 hours, each) in Butte County, you'll discover that it's just far enough away to feel like a rural vacation.

With several golf courses, bicycle trails, and horse trails, the great outdoors beckons throughout the seasons. Its picture perfect location along the Feather River also offers sports such as fishing and boating.

The tallest earth-filled dam in the U.S. is located 770 feet above the stream bed of the Feather River near Oroville is a California State Park where you can camp, picnic, hike, sail, water ski, swim, and enjoy both floating campsites and horse campsites.

See the smallest mountain range in the world at the Lake Oroville Visitor Center inside the state park. There's a tower where you can view the smallest Sutter Buttes mountain range and California's spectacular Sierra Nevadas.
