Shell Beach is a community to the north of Pismo Beach that is actually part of that city, though it maintains its own name and space. Beaches are the prime attraction on this spectacular stretch of coast north of the Pismo Beach Pier. With hilltop vistas and stairs to climb down (or up) to and from the beach, Shell Beach offers a perfect sunbathing and sand vacation.

Of course the favorite attraction in addition to the beaches is the Dolphin Bay Resort offering upscale accommodations that are operated as condos, with some available for overnight stays. Luxurious and enjoyable, the units are the best on the coast, and the on location restaurant includes great menus you'll enjoy.

What to see and do? There's kayaking rentals in Shell Beach, beachcombing, surfing, ATV rentals in Pismo Beach for dune rides, horseback rentals, and all sorts of fun.

Shell Beach is on our top 10 "See California" attractions. Margo Dodd Park is the main park overlooking the ocean. It includes a gazebo ideal for weddings, and sets of stairs descending from the bluffs onto the beach. The stairs are your only easily accessible points to reach the beach and sandy coves below where you can launch your kayaks, look for shells, and play on the rocks.
