Sunset Beach, California is a seaside one-mile long beach community in Orange County situated between Seal Beach to the north and Huntington Beach to the south. It is known as a sandy beach destination that enjoys an eclectic history over 100 years in the making. Its proud community and citizens have included famous resident, actress Sandra Bullock.
With several hotels on the beach, Sunset Beach is a great vacation for those seeking pure beach vacations. But the nightlife near hotels allows you to walk to the little dinner houses, bars and clubs with live music, lots of noise and good times.

When visiting Sunset Beach, the beach is the highlight of any trip. The ocean views include Catalina Island to the southwest, and San Pedro and Rancho Palos Verdes mountains to the northwest.
Across the street on Pacific Coast Highway that runs the length of the town is Sunset Island, part of the town's land. And it is located to Huntington Beach's Huntington Harbour with five manmade islands, including several that are accessible from Sunset Beach.
The name of Sunset Beach (California) was once used in a soap opera. The place is real but the show was fictionally set in this community. There were no actual places portrayed in the soap opera existing in the REAL Sunset Beach. Nevertheless, it made for great chatter for those who visited from around the globe, hoping to find that dream town. What they found upon arrival was quite different, but every bit as interesting and and alluring. Sunset Beach is the town that dreams are made of.
Special events include Mother's Day Weekend Art Festival, Mile Long Garage Sale, 4th of July on the Greenbelt, Chili Cook-off, and the Christmas Holiday Parade. There's also an annual surfing tradition, the Surfside 70s surfing contest held usually in July.
Sunset Beach is a public beach with multi-million dollar houses and house & vacation rentals located on the sand or nearby along the one mile greenbelt. To the north is gated Surfside, the Anaheim Bay and Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station with access provided to Huntington Harbour. Beyond that is Seal Beach, visible from Sunset Beach.
To the south is Bolsa Chica State Beach and Huntington Beach. On the bay side of Sunset Beach is Huntington Harbour and Sunset Island. You can rent a kayak from several companies along the road, and paddle around the bay for enjoyment.
