Templeton is located midway between Atascadero and Paso Robles, approx. 6 miles each direction, in San Luis Obispo County. It was founded in 1886 when the Southern Pacific Railroad came through the area. Templeton has retained much of its historical character - many of the old buildings have been restored and are still in use today. New buildings are being built, but always with an eye to the past.

Famous residents include: Josh Brolin born in Templeton, is an actor The Goonies, No Country For Old Men. Brian Barden, third baseman for the Arizona Diamondbacks was born in Templeton. Sandy Koufax, Baseball Hall of Famer and southpaw pitcher with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers, had a home in Templeton in the 1970s. Stewart Finlay-McLennan, actor (Christy, National Treasure) lives on a secluded ranch in the area, and is often seen around Templeton.

Easter Egg Hunt Easter Bunny Join Templeton Recreation & Templeton Fire Departments for an old fashioned Easter Egg Hunt, complete with carnival games, relay races and a visit from the Easter Bunny! Lots of fun for the whole family is guaranteed and no one leaves empty-handed from our hunt! We divide the hunt into age divisions, so the youngest egg-hunters aren't run over by the older ones. Templeton Independence Day Parade and Pancake Breakfast- July 4 The parade is sponsored each year by Templeton Kiwanis. The festivities begin at 10:00 am on July 4 and run along Main Street. After the parade, please join us back at Templeton Community Park for the awards ceremony, food, entertainment, music, fun and games. Templeton Fire Department Pancake Breakfast July 4, 2014 Sponsored by Templeton Fire Department Before the Independence Parade begins, enjoy a pancake breakfast at the Templeton Fire Station. The pancake breakfast starts at 7:00 am and runs until 9:30 am. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children (ages 10 and under). Tickets can be purchased at the Templeton Community Services District Office, at Farmers' Market, or from any Templeton Fire Fighter. Tickets may also be purchased at the door that morning, but it is strongly suggested to buy pre-sale tickets since all 800 breakfasts have sold out the last several years. Founder's Day Celebration Templeton Founder's Day Founder's Day 2014 The community gathers to commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first passengers off the train in 1886, as well as our region's rich heritage in agriculture. The Templeton Chamber, along with our friends of the Templeton Historical Museum Society hosted this year's Founder's Day event. The Templeton Museum served as the center of activity on a crystal clear Fall day. Members of the Historical Society and the Hospitality Crew of the Templeton 4-H Club served a free slice of pie as part of the Old Fashion Pie Social at the Museum.
