A really special place to visit during California road trips is Truckee, located at around 5,800' elevation in the Tahoe National Forest, approx. 12 miles (20 minutes by car) from Lake Tahoe's Kings Beach. You can get there on Highway 80 that begins in the East Bay and passes through Sacramento--the trip from "Sac" takes under 2 hours. Amtrak also has service to Truckee!
What can you do in Truckee? In addition to watching spectacular mountain sunsets and taking pictures of them, here are a few things coming up!
