Though not the only Tree Lighting Ceremony in the city, this is the unofficial kick off to the holiday season in San Jose and is considered the main tree lighting.

For more than 30 years the tradition has been a San Jose family favorite, as the Tree Lighting is also part of a downtown San Jose experience that include the annual Christmas in the Park, and Downtown San Jose Ice Rink. Christmas in the Park opens 3 p.m. and the Tree Lighting ceremonial speeches and music begin at 5:30, with the tree lighting happening around 6 p.m.
