The Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Immediately following the lighting of the tree, the Mayor and City Council will board the vintage fire truck to the start the parade at Howard Avenue. See you there!
Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department cordially invites you to join in celebrating the Holiday Season at the Annual Burlingame Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of City Hall. The event will include musical numbers bands, choirs, as well as a special appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The parade features High School marching band, Cheerleaders, community groups, civic leaders, chorale singers and Santa! The festive event invites you to enjoy al the pageantry of Christmas in a parade that includes color and music staged for holiday enjoyment. The parade takes place following the tree lighting ceremony at Burlingame City Hall at 5 p.m., and provides time for attendees of that event to make their way to the parade for starting time. Since it is an after dark parade, bundle up and prepare to see festive light displays.
After the holiday parade the downtown opens up for celebrations in the merchant shops, and a session at the artificial ice rink. There may be additional entertainment such as a carnival ride. The entertainment is scheduled at the stage on Primrose Road. Stores will be open for shopping, restaurants for dining and clubs open for nightlife. Start you Holidays right, shop Burlingame, shop Downtown! Burlingame Avenue between California and Lorton could have an amusement ride if negotiations are a success. Be surprised!
There will be a Skating Rink located on Park Road by the Apple store. This is a synthetic surface without the cold or the hard surface. It is a great experience for children and novices alike but for avid ice skaters, you know what synthetic is like.
Santa will be available for wishes lists and pictures on the Avenue across from The Landmark.
Parking is always a challenge so carpool and come early-- Lot O and Lot A are often underutilized.
Other events in Burlingame to celebrate the season include the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall held before the parade. In the spring, you can hop into action as the Burlingame Egg Hunts invite the community youth to search for the hidden eggs.
