May Your Christmas Sparkle Like Diamonds is 2023 theme
The 75th annual Christmas Parade which is brought to the community by the Elks Lodge 1980 and partners ranging from the City to various agencies, is typically held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The parade line up takes place at Jackson Street School in Yreka.
Funding for the parade has been touch and go for several years but it's not rocket science to see the community comes out to watch this beloved annual event. Boy Scout troops, a horse drawn carriage, floats with queens, holiday-themed floats sponsored by churches, organizations handing out candy, fire trucks (including one with Smokey the Bear waving to the crowds), all participate in the parade.
The crowd that gathers - parents with children, teens, seniors and babies in strollers - stay throughout the parade and watch for their friends, classmates and assorted entertainment to pass by them. It's a wonderful community experience to kick-start the holiday season in Yreka.
