The grove of towering Norfolk Island Pines on the Founders Lawn is the scene of a dynamic light show orchestrated to lively holiday jazz music, a brilliant ethereal experience that captivates guests with a finale of snow flurries. Showcased is the Norfolk Pine originally made famous in 1904 as the world’s first electrically lit outdoor Christmas tree. A 12-foot-tall replica of the hotel’s signature red turret complete with holiday lights serves as the focal point of the adjacent bar, surrounded by Victorian-inspired lounge seating for the perfect spot to watch the show (the bar is open Nov. 22-24, Nov. 29-30, Dec. 1, Dec 4-8, Dec. 13-15, Dec. 20-31, 2024 & Jan. 1-5, 2025).

This is a momentous year as the Rotary Park Tree is going to be shining brighter than ever! The Star Pine was planted in 1936 and over 85 years later, it is still the focal point of the Holiday Season in Coronado.
Part of an evening of festivities, there's a Holiday Parade and tree lighting ceremony to kick off the holiday season in style! The parade starts at 6pm, but many come early to Rotary Plaza to sing carols from 5-6pm and anxiously await Santa's arrival via fire truck.
In a collaboration between the City of Coronado, Discover Coronado, Coronado MainStreet & the Coronado Chamber, the 85 foot tall tree will be donned with 12,000 linear feet of lights!
Once Santa arrives, one lucky local family is selected each year to help the Mayor flip the switch on Star Pine, lighting the giant tree in all its glory.
