For over 60 years the holiday tree lighting tradition in Downtown Novato on the first weekend of December at Sherman and Grant Avenues truly lights up downtown with music, dance performances, crafts, artisan vendors, holiday food vendor and lots of great ways to spend money and time with your family. From hot chocolate to baked goods, warm & delicious aromas waft through the air.
The magic hits a high note as Santa and his Elves ride into town on the Novato Fire Department Ladder Truck for the 5:30 p.m. countdown of the grand tree lighting. That's when the massive pine tree at the corner of Sherman and De Long Avenues comes to life with over 40,000 twinkling lights and the outline of City Hall sparkles with beautiful white lights.
