The annual Palm Springs Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is graced with the presence of celebrity Tree Lighters at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.

In 2023, television, stage, and film star Judith Chapman best known roles in daytime dramas: The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful (Gloria Abbott Bardwell), Days of our Lives (Anjelica Deveraux), As the World Turns (Natalie Bannon Hughes), and General Hospital (Ginny Blake Webber), helps light  Palm Springs Aerial Tramway's tree. KESQ Meteorologist and  Eye on the Desert Host Patrick Evans plays emcee for this year's event at Tramway Mountain Station.

• Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Palm Springs High School Choir performing holiday favorites.
• Chapman lights the Tram’s landmark 45-foot tree comprised of over 4,000 LED lights, which can be seen throughout the Coachella Valley.

Chapman has guest starred on The Fall Guy, Magnum P.I., Murder She Wrote, Kojak, Barnaby Jones, Knight Rider, Simon & Simon, Highway to Heaven, The Love Boat, The Incredible Hulk, Fantasy Island, Silk Stalkings, 28 Days, The Sweetest Thing and, most recently, playing Nancy Reagan in the Oscar-winning film,  King Richard.

The tree lighting ceremony is open to the public and is included with regular Tram admission.

City of Palm Springs Holiday Tree Lighting

The ceremony lighting the City's "green" 22-foot holiday tree features caroling, free cookies and hot cocoa and Santa Claus of course!

The Mayor and City Council help make the season bright with the Official City of Palm Springs Holiday Tree Lighting.  Residents and their four-legged friends are invited to bring the whole family and join Santa Claus, the City Council -- and Grand Marshals, including Canine Mayor Buddy Holly for the Official City of Palm Springs Holiday Tree Lighting

• Caroling by the Palm Springs High School Madrigal Singers
• Free cookies, hot cocoa
• Holiday arts and crafts for children  
  

Right around the same time (the day after the tree lighting, usually) the City of Palm Springs has an incredible Festival of Lights Parade, the highlight of the Coachella Valley.
