Festival of Lights on Main Street is an old-fashioned event rekindling the spirit of the old-fashioned holidays in which miners seeking gold put down their pans and tools to take time for Christmas in the mines. While the event takes place throughout the evening after Thanksgiving, the tree lighting is held at 6 p.m.
Historic Main Street is filled with music, entertainment, Santa, stagecoach rides, and the tree-lighting at the Courthouse.
"Doc" Wiser and his crew usually provide FREE rides (in good weather) at the Bell Tower during the festival, and on two Saturdays in December. During December you also can enjoy the Placerville Holiday Parade.
Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
