November 27-December 24, 2024
Annual event takes place each night and includes a symphony of lights, sounds, and visual effects. It transports the audience back to a time when the beloved poem "The Night Before Christmas" was first introduced in Sacramento in 1857. The Old Sacramento Theatre of Lights will run two 20-minute light shows throughout the holiday season with two performances every night, Thursdays through Sundays.

California State Capitol Christmas Tree, often a red fir, is delivered to the west lawn of Capitol Park by Cal Fire from the LaTour Demonstration State Forest. 200 hand-crafted ornaments contributed by DDS (Department of Development Services) were made by individuals with developmental disabilities, and 10,000 LED lights decorate the annual tree.
Again this year, ultra-low-wattage LED lights will save 95 percent of the energy that would be consumed by incandescent bulbs. The California State Christmas Tree is now on display on the West side of the State Capitol (10th Street, between N and L Streets) in Sacramento.
Other events include a free summer concert series, jazz concerts and Halloween events.
