The annual Tulare Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting (at 5:30 p.m.) event organized by the Tulare Downtown Association, includes the big tree lighting, photos with Santa Claus, homemade cookies, hot chocolate, face-painting and fire engine rides.

When Joe Gregory of VIP Pizza planted a tree at Tulare and K outside the Great America Bank, he started a tradition that now is anticipated each season, held usually before the Children's Christmas Parade.
