Held the 1st Friday after Thanksgiving weekend!
This year the Mission's twin Norfolk Pine Trees are veiled in new-ish lights, and the Mission Park Fig Tree will also be lit. Festivities start at 5 p.m., and include a Christmas Village with a variety of booths in Figueroa Plaza; canned food Christmas trees, sponsored by Food Share; Choirs begin singing and at 6:45 the Mayor and Mission Pastor welcome Santa Claus to light the trees, accompanied by snow and festive music. Activities are sponsored by the businesses of the Downtown District. Bring your family, bring the neighborhood, and enjoy the evening!
New LED lights on the tree! Ventura's main tree lighting ceremony takes place in Downtown not far from City Hall. The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at California Street Mini Park features the decorated 20 foot tall cut tree that's been professionally decorated, standing on the on the park's main stage for enjoyment throughout the month of December.
The evening of tree lighting entertainment includes speeches by dignitaries such as the mayor, choirs singing festive holiday songs, and during their singing they will lead the community in a fun sing-a-long for the whole family.
Santa Claus comes on a red city of Ventura fire engine (around 6 p.m.) and carefully disembarks to help light the fragrant tree. The lights get switched on and families stick around for happy celebrating at this free event.
Free parking is available in the adjacent parking structure and nearby parking lots.
Ventura is one of the most event-filled cities for its size in California and annual events you won't want to miss include Halloween celebrations, among the countless events.
