Tuolumne County takes travelers back to the Old West with buildings and events that celebrate the rich Gold Country heritage experienced in places such as Jamestown Historic State Park. Two hotels are over 100 years old and provide accommodations that are unique.
Sonora, the city center for much of the activities that go on in Tuolumne County provides a visual feast of architecture spanning days gone by. Be sure to take time to wander or drive through neighborhoods, stop and shop in the downtown stores, grab an old-fashioned beverage such as a soda on a hot summer day in the historic building with an beautiful wood-carved bar, and visit on weekends during the spring through fall at farmer's market when you can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, Central Valley nuts, hand-made gifts, and snacks.
