• Free kids ride on fire engine Ferndale Volunteer Firefighters celebrate independence with an old-fashioned treat for the kids: a free ride on a gleaming fire engine.

Following the parade the Ferndale VFW and VFW auxiliary  host a community BBQ from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, and watermelon are on the menu for dine in or take out.
