Palm Desert celebrates our nation’s independence on Thursday, July 4, with free festivities featuring fireworks, food trucks, live music, and more at Civic Center Park.

 The Independence Day celebration starts at 7:30 p.m., with a concert featuring the Swing Cats Big Band, then the sky lights up at 9 p.m., with a spectacular 20-minute-long fireworks display synchronized to patriotic-themed music simulcast on radio stations Mix 100.5 FM and 98.5 The Bull.

Bring the kids early for activities and games on the field behind YMCA of the Desert starting at 4:30 p.m., while food trucks and vendors will serve up good eats beginning at 5 p.m. Picnic baskets, blankets, and chairs are all welcomed.

Alcoholic beverages, smoking, and portable barbeques are prohibited. Golf carts will not be allowed inside park grounds on July 4.

Parking at Civic Center on July 4 is accessible from Fred Waring Drive only and will be allowed until the parking lots are full. Parking is also available at the Palm Desert Aquatic Center. Overflow event parking will once again be allowed at the College of the Desert campus, with access available from Fred Waring Drive. Free, air-conditioned shuttle service provided between The Gardens on El Paseo and the park  6-10 p.m. The Gardens is located at the corner of El Paseo and San Pablo Avenue.
