Welcome to June 2011 events in California. As Memorial Weekend in May signals the official launch of California beaches summer season, there's still some snow skiing in Mammoth Mountains where the ski slopes generally have snow till July 4! One of our favorite events to truly launch the June summer of fun attitude is the San Diego Fair in Del Mar. In 2011 it begins on June 10 and goes till July 4.

Among the fairs you can enjoy in June, Contra Costa County Fair in Antioch June 2 - 5, 2011; Santa Mateo County Fair June 11 - 19; Merced County Fair - June 15- 19; Anderson - Shasta District Fair June 15 - 19; Placerville - El Dorado County Fair June 16 - 19; Stockton - San Joaquin Fair June 15 -19; Petaluma - Sonoma-Marin Fair June 22 - 26 with the famous "World's Ugliest Dog" contest; Eureka - Redwood Acres Fair & Rodeo June 23 - 26; and Sherman Oaks -The Valley Fair June 23-27, are some of the favorite ways to launch summer in California.

The fairs include food, carnival rides, contests, live bands and entertainment, and usually a petting zoo, plus agriculture competitions.
