MCKINLEYVILLE: Pony Express Days, May 29- June 2, 2013. Pony Express Days established in 1968, is a 5 day community event that includes a Clam Chowder Cook-off, Fireman's Muster (fireman games), Pony Express Dance and Saturday's Parade down Central Avenue that rolls right into the big Family Festival in Pierson Park. On Sunday there will be Gymkhana. Wednesday May 29 - Clam Chowder Cook-off in the Activity Center in Pierson Park with amateur and professional competitors. Thursday May 30 - Fireman's Muster at the Ray's Food Place Parking Lot --cheer for your local fire departments as they compete in Fireman games. Friday May 31 Pony Express Dance at the Sapphire Palace at Blue Lake Casino. Dance to Dr. Squid and wear your best looking boots to enter the boot contest. Saturday June 1 Parade & Festival - parade runs along Central Ave at 11 a.m. Then head over to Pierson Park for a family festival from 12-4pm. Craft booths, food, beer garden, St. John & the Sinners, kid activities, horseshoe tournament and more!
