How to get a wrist band in 2025? Wristbands reservations are free and will be available online at www.sanmateorec.org beginning April 2, 2025, 12 p.m. for residents and April 3, 2025, 12 p.m. for non-residents.  Wristbands can be picked up morning of the event starting at 9 a.m. Limited wristbands will be available without reservation day-of the event. 

San Mateo's signature springtime community event and largest egg hunt has enjoyed more than 48 years of fun. Attended by hundreds of kids and families, the event is an Egg Hunt in Central Park. Well organized with an amazing itinerary, there are plenty of reasons to add this to your list of can't miss Easter celebrations.

Eggstravaganza

Enjoy a family-fun spring-themed event filled with live entertainment, egg hunts, photo opportunities, food trucks, a community parade and more!

Modifications and changes to this event may occur due to inclement weather.

Egg Hunts

Small Egg Hunt age 0-3 years
Large Egg Hunt age 4-11 years

It doesn’t matter if you pick up one egg or ten - every child gets one (1) candy bag at the exit of the egg hunt. All eggs are returned to staff.
 
Community Parade / Costume Contest 9-10 a.m.
Join  the wonderful parade! The categories go as follows:

Best Hat/Bonnet
Best Costume
Most Creative Float (wagon, bike, scooter, stroller)
Best Themed Group
Prizes will be given to one winner per category. Each person/group can sign-up for one category only. Onsite registration and waiver required for all participants. 

Entertainment
9:15 a.m. Puppet Art Theater Co.
10:15 a.m. Costume Contest followed by a parade
11:15 a.m. Lori & RJ (singing and dancing)

Pancake Breakfast
The Pancake Breakfast (also includes sausage and eggs) is being hosted by the Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight inside of the Central Recreation Center from 9:00-11:00am. The fee for breakfast is $5 for children and $10 for adults.

Food Vendors

Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight for Breakfast (pancakes, sausages, etc.)
Edi’s Quesabirria & Taco’s serves Mexican Food
Humphrey’s Slocombe for Ice Cream/Dessert
Respectable Bird sells Chicken Sandwiches, Fries, etc.

Metered parking is available around the park and in downtown San Mateo on E. 5th Avenue under the tennis courts. 
 

Other fun entertainment in San Mateo include summer concerts in Central Park.

Easter Events are subject to change at discretion of event planners. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
