WHAT: Fishing, boating, outdoor recreation travel, camping, hunting, shooting sports and diving are just a few of the sports interests showcased by exhibitors, vendors and seminars at the Fred Hall Ultimate Outdoor Experience Show. Even if you're not an outdoorsman (or woman) there's really something for everyone at this mega-event.
From food vendors selling the latest dried fruits and jerkies to an outdoor beer and cocktail garden, gourmet food trucks, ducks races, splash dogs, and more, the Fred Hall sports show is really a great opportunity to explore. Kids (all ages) love it! Want to try your hand at fly fishing? Get a free lesson. Want to learn how to scuba dive? There's a tank on site where they'll let you take your first dip to try it out.
The show combines sports activities with travel destinations, charter boat companies, product vendors and games and prizes to get people excited about being outdoors.
The show began decades ago by a guy named Fred Hall. Sadly, he passed away but fortunately his son, Bart, took over and produces the event annually in California--usually in Long Beach at the Convention Center and San Diego (Del Mar) at the Fairgrounds each spring.
Dave Donnel, owner of Frontier Pack Train (frontierpacktrain.com) in Bishop said, "This show has been in existence so long that I have to come just to let everyone know I'm still around!"
Dan McKernan, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Big Bear Lake, said it is one of the several shows his destination attends each year. Big Bear Lake is known for its fishing, hiking and lake sports, so his staff tells everyone about the great sports opportunities and clean air in the mountains. "We meet and greet thousands of enthusiasts, many who decide to visit after seeing our exhibit at the show."
