City of Irvine hosts Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park.

• A Commanding Officer from Irvine's adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion recognizes fallen service members and their sacrifice in a speech to audience
• Guests honor family and friends who died in service to the nation by posting a brief remembrance on a memory board at the event.
• Cards will be available to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine's adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion, 

The City of Irvine is hosting two Memorial Day events to honor and remember the sacrifice of fallen American service members.

Northwood Memorial Candle Lighting Ceremony honors   fallen service members with a special speaker.

Guest speaker Colonel Willard A. Buhl USMC (Ret.) held an esteemed career:

• Operations Desert Shield and Storm
• Liberation of Kuwait
• UN Operations in Mogadishu, Somalia
• Two tours of duty as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom I and II

The ceremony is held in partnership with the Northwood Memorial Committee. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
