Palm Springs Air Museum. Our brief Memorial Day service at 1 p.m. is a dedication to all fallen comrades who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. In their honor, the highlight to the service is a fly-by and flower drop of 3,000 red and white carnations from a B-25 Mitchell bomber. The entire day is filled with flight exhibitions, musical performances, WWII re-enactors, children's activities and lots & lots of flying aircraft.
In 2023 the 50th anniversary of the release of the Vietnam War POWs is celebrated.
In 2017 Palm Springs Air Museum commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Tokyo Raid. 2nd Lt. Aden Jones was the bombardier on the 3rd plane out of 16 that participated in the Doolittle Raid. Jones passed away before the US Government awarded Congressional Gold Medals to the Doolittle Raiders in April of 2015. However, the Museum is presenting the Congressional Gold Medal to Lt. Jones' sister, Janet Davidson. She is a Gold Star Wife and Palm Springs resident. The Flower Drop Ceremony is dedicated to all of our fallen comrades who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. The service is held in their honor as well as the annual fly-by and flower drop of over 3,000 red and white carnations from a B-25 Mitchell Bomber.
The entire day is filled with flight exhibitions, Heatwave Band, and flying aircraft. Beer Garden for adults 21 and over.
