Guest speaker William Bowes, Navy Vice Admiral (ret) - The Meaning of
Memorial Day
After 33 years of service, Admiral Bowes retired. He was a US Navy
Postgraduate, served in the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Secretary
of Navy Advisory Committee.
$12 tri-tip sandwich lunch on-site at Post 66; free to veterans with valid ID. 12-2 p.m.
Veterans Museum open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for free tours at 10 a.m., 1 & 2 p.m. Exhibits include Lost at Sea: Loss and Remembrance featuring USS Thresher, USS Scorpion, The Lost 52, USS Indianapolis, The Honda Point Disaster, Halsey's Typhoon, and other disasters.
Co-hosted by American Legion Post 66 and Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum, Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony takes place outside at the Veterans Memorial Building near the Cal Poly entrance. All ages are invited to come together on this special day, to honor and remember all who lost their lives making the ultimate sacrifice during their service to our country.

While the visitors bureau mention that this is an annual event, they have not provided a definitive date for 2023. More than 200 people showed up in 2022 for this annual commemoration of those who have served and lost their lives in our nation's armed forces. We'll keep looking for a confirmation but pretty it is happening. Just don't have many details such as speaker and program.
