California is a land of parks, ideal for exploring on a special day that launches the new year. State Parks participates in a national event called First Day Hikes. They take place on the first day of each new year, always January 1, and they happen at parks throughout the United States. The First Day Hikes provide a fantastic outdoor activity to get you into the groove for the upcoming year. Get out, get exercise, and see California.
This New Year's Day 2023, California State Parks will participate in the Annual First Day Hikes at parks across the state.
NOTE: Events recommend bringing water, sturdy shoes, hat, sun protection and food as needed for longer walks/hikes. Nature hikes suggest binoculars.
