When the rodeo arrives in town today people may ditch work early in Salinas. Some plan their vacations around this special community event, one of just a handful that attract visitors from all over the nation.
The California Rodeo (carodeo.com) in Salinas attracts professional Bull Riders are some of the most daring and talented athletes who compete in sports today. See top 40 competitors on the PBR Tour. These riders, along with the other 36 contestants, provide non-stop action and keep the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The Rodeo itself is designed to operate like a two-ring circus, each Rodeo performance features events that occur in the arena and on the track simultaneously. While the classic event of saddle bronc riding bucks out in the arena, a horse race speeds by on the track. Barrelmen, arena bull fighters, Trick & Roman Riding, Rodeo Clown, Monster Truck Jam and Miss California Rodeo will be on hand.
