Annual Mother's Day Picnic helps fund important programs. The setting is superb and the best part--you're helping Mother (Earth).

For 50 years, Audubon Canyon Ranch and Marin Audubon Society have hosted a Mother's Day BBQ at Martin Griffin Preserve. Families and friends come together for a day of food and fun in the meadow of Volunteer Canyon, an area of Martin Griffin Preserve rarely open to the public. Guests will enjoy a delicious lunch of BBQ chicken or vegetarian quiche, beans, breads and dessert—all while sitting in the beautiful, natural surroundings of the preserve. There are ponds and hiking trails to explore and craft activities will be set up for children.

Proceeds benefit the habitat protection and nature education programs of ACR and Marin Audubon Society. Event will be held rain or shine. The Mother's Day BBQ coincides with the height of the Great Egret nesting season at Martin Griffin Preserve. Between April and July, the preserve averages 100 active nest sites annually in a grove of redwoods. Visitors to the preserve during this time may witness different stages of the egret nesting cycle including courting rituals, blue eggs, chicks and first flights.
