An annual tradition for families on the Central Coast and in the Central Valley, the Mid-State Fair combines the thrills of a carnival midway with the excitement of big concerts featuring top entertainers, plus all the homespun events and attractions only a fair can provide.
People like my parents who lived in Santa Maria have made this fair a tradition for their kids and grandkids to attend and enjoy. Paso Robles gets hot in July so people from the coast can get a little jolt. With that note, just remember to dress in layers and stay hydrated. As evening comes and the weather cools, concerts are a hot-ticket item at Mid-State Fair. There's also a fantastic carnival, midway, foods, drinks and a rodeo and destruction derby or race each year.
