Balboa Island, Calif.—The annual May event, Balboa Island Artwalk, features fine arts at booths, tables and displays along Balboa Island's perimeter walkways next to the sand and waterways of the Newport Bay.
Spectators can hear live music throughout the day on stages than include porches of houses along the walk. Local restaurants are open to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as fun to funky unique boutiques along Marine Avenue.
The Balboa Island Artwalk is the premier showcase for talented local artists. Location: South Bayfront Promenade of Balboa Island. Admission is free.
Many talented artists live on Balboa Island in the City of Newport Beach. However, the Artwalk draws its talents from artists in Orange County, Southern California and even some from outside the region.
Among the favored art themes are ocean scenes, boats, waves, birds, sunsets, sand, coves and the bucolic local regions such as Laguna Beach, Catalina and Newport Beach.
Parking: There are several ways to get to the event. One is by scouring the neighborhoods and finding a parking spot on Balboa Island. It's seldom more than a few blocks to walk to the bayfront event from parking spots on the island.
The other way is to find parking on Newport Peninsula and walk to the Balboa Ferry, which charges around $1 per passenger each way to cross the bay and access the island. The artwalk begins just a few yards from the island ferry dock.
Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
