Pre-register at Eventbrite where you may purchase tickets for chocolate tasting. Otherwise, register in person at the event booths at Shattuck & Vine or Shattuck & Cedar where art chalk is sold $10 cash/24 pieces or $20/48 pieces.
CHALK ART CONTEST judged after 4 p.m. Top three winners will receive cash prizes ($150/$100/$50). Ten runners up get a $25 gift certificate from Books, Inc. Winners will be notified by Wednesday after the event.
It's that time of year again to celebrate Chocolate and Chalk Art Festival in the Gourmet Ghetto. The sidewalks along Shattuck and Cedar streets in North Berkeley are the target of artists young and old, professional and greenhorn during the 23rd Chocolate and Chalk Art Festival in August 2022. With no fees to artists, areas of sidewalk are assigned for you to create your own fanciful chalk drawings.
Families or groups may work together, artists may work alone, but everyone comes away with a sense of pride in their work for all to see.Buy tasting tickets from the event booths at 1451, 1495 or 1607 Shattuck Ave. on the day of the event or in advance on EventBrite. Tickets are $1/ea. businesses listed for items on the Chocolate Menu which are available during the hours listed and only while supplies last. Items may be substituted. All items are sold 'to-go' only.
Shop and have fun at vendor booths. Crafts, kids' activities, food trucks, beer, wine and musicians fill the blocks between Rose and Vine Streets. This is a family-friendly, free event produced by Another Bullwinkel Show and sponsored by the North Shattuck Association, City of Berkeley Civic Arts, Safeway, Singha Beer, Berkeley Community Media, and Books, Inc.

Held just before summer when the sidewalks are hot and chocolate melts, the annual Berkeley event combines America's (and Berkeley's) love of chocolate with art expression, taking it to the streets. Several chocolate manufacturers hail from Berkeley where chocolate is considered a food for connoisseurs, and you'll find chocolate foods and desserts on the menus of restaurants and cafes along Shattuck
Art contest and artwork will appear along North Shattuck Avenue and Cedar in the Gourmet Ghetto.
