California is the Lemon Capital of the U.S.
As such, it is only fitting that the state's citrus growing regions celebrate lemons. The unique growing climate makes the state quite special -- of all the citrus crops grown here only the lemon has a 12 month, year-round growing season. Furthermore, lemons are the heartiest of citrus fruits. Like oranges, lemons are a heritage fruit that holds a legacy for cities and town where the crops once grew abundantly. Lemon Cove near the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains pays homage to lemons with its name.
In Lemon Grove, a city approx. 7 miles east of San Diego, the World's Biggest Lemon is a statue pays homage to the city's name and lemon groves once dotting the landscape.
