California Cupid's Undie Runs

Cupid: Latin origin "Cupido" means desire.
Cupid is the god of desire, love, attraction and affection sometimes portrayed as the son of the love goddess Venus and the war god Mars.

In the Cupid's Undie Run it refers to love of a cause, a fundraising effort to run in the name of others suffering from diseases such as Children's Tumor Foundation and neurofibromatosis (NF). Participants are encouraged to raise money through sponsorship and dress for the "brief" run wearing underwear or undie-themed costumes with red, pink and other Valentine's themes such as Cupid.

The annual event, usually held in February to coincide with Valentine's Day, takes place in approx. 40-50 cities nationally, and there's even been a Cupid's Undie Run in Australia.
