Annual Lunar New Year Celebration features City Officials and Staff joined by lion dancers, martial artists, taiko drummers, and other live performances. This free celebration of the Year of the Dragon includes free admission to San Mateo County History Museum and free Kids Arts and Crafts! The free event is open to the public.
While Lunar New Year annually hosts a variety of amazing performances from local cultural groups, the 2024 schedule of performances are to be announced.
Lunar New Year is one of the most important holidays in Asian heritage, often celebrated with big family gatherings, gift giving, the eating of symbolic foods, and displays of festive decorations - all focused on bringing good luck for the New Year and celebrating the imminent arrival of spring.
Redwood City, its Parks Recreation and Community Services Department, and partner Redwood City International typically lines up entertainment based on Asian culture & ttraditions like lion dancers, martial artists, taiko drummers, and other live performances.
