The annual Big Hat Days in Old Town Clovis: The first full weekend in April finds one of the West Coast's favorite events fills twelve blocks of Old Town with 140,000 visitors shopping at more than 400 craft booths manned by vendors from across the country.

Appetites are sated by a wide variety of food and beverages as live bands entertain the crowds. Little ones enjoy the family carnival and bounce houses in the kids' area. Oh yes, there are lots of big hats at the largest two day festival in Central California.

The streets in Old Town sizzle with hundreds of craft and commercial booths along Pollasky Avenue -- and more food vendors that offer more delicacies than ever. Cinnamon rolls, barbeque, chocolate covered fruit, smoothies, kettle korn and shaved ice, non-alcoholic pina coladas in fresh pineapples, fried wonton tacos, steaming fajitas, freshly baked cobblers topped with ice cream and pink cotton candy offer a variety for every age and taste. The Michelob Ultra beer garden features Live Bands and a wide variety of beers and wine specialties. Rides, games, balloon animal man more make this the place to be.

In 1938 when ballpoint pens, the first use of Teflon, and the first issues of the Superman comics were introduced, Clovis BIG Hat Days celebration to honor hardworking Clovis cowboys and farmers was also launched.

Townspeople were invited to don their favorite hats to salute these local heroes who wore their hat to block the dirt and sun from their faces. Central Valley's biggest celebration with 15 blocks of shopping, food, and entertainment (including carnivals in two locations, games  thrill rides,) continues a beloved annual tradition in Old Town Clovis on Pollasky Avenue, one block west of Clovis Avenue between Third and Ninth Streets
