Free admission to many events, some charge a fee
Held in tribute to the blossoming dogwood trees against a blanket of green grass and spacious blue skies, the annual Dunsmuir Dogwood Daze features a Pie Social, Art and Music a Doggie Parade, Soapbox Derby, and a City-wide yard sale.
Pie Social, sponsored by the Dunsmuir Railroad Depot Historical Society Dunsmuir Museum begins at 10 a.m. and ends when the pies are gone. Slices and whole pies may be purchased. Last year's event sold out by 2:30 p.m. with more than 200 pies baked by 73 people. The Pie Social is in Dunsmuir's Historic Amtrak Depot.
Derby Races on Upper Dunsmuir Avenue, where Big Dave Keisler the Gravity Car Derby Champ, Undefeated in Siskiyou County, Challenges all Adults 16 years and up.
The Soap Box karts derby cars come down the hill to the cheers of the spectators; trophies and prizes are awarded. For more information call Big Dave Keisler at 925-9365
Beautiful native Dogwood trees are visible around town with concentrations on Sacramento Avenue, the Children's Park, and Hedge Creek Falls Park. Be sure to visit Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens.
Merchant specials entice at the traditional city-wide Yard Sale lasting all week-end. A map is available at the Chamber of Commerce office at 5915 Dunsmuir Avenue.
